Tomorrow (Monday 10th Apr 2023) see's some real tangible evidence towards our committments and quick progress in rebuilding our Youth Rugby Section.
This will be seen as over 100 young pupils from a mix of local Schools, attend the 2023 Easter Rugby Camp.
These promising numbers show what great potential the Aberdeenshire RFC catchment area has in contributing towards grassroots rugby development.
Plaudits should indeed be given to local, and former Shire Youth product, Paul Harrow, after the immense progress he has made since taking on the role of Rugby Development Officer.
Paul has been engaging with local sporting partners and Aberdeen City council to deliver regular rugby sessions to Schools, achieved through a mix of After-School Clubs, and the additional benefit of curriculum sessions, which were granted at some Schools following the popularity of the latter sessions.
To maintain momentum and help avoid potential social barriers to any aspiring youngsters attending the event, ARFC will also be hosting the Camp completely FREE of charge, whilst also including a complimentary breakfast club and lunch for all attendees.
In support of this venture we were also delighted to partner with Laurie Ross Insurance (https://www.laurieross.com), who helped contribute towards the costs of our Camp. Managing Director of Laurie Ross stated "We hope that the Easter event is a great success, and are delighted to help support grassroots rugby in Aberdeen. Laurie Ross only recently acquired the Aberdeen Insurance Services business, and together with ARFC we hope to raise our Aberdeen profile whilst giving back to the local community."
Final thanks must go to all of the prospective young Rugby Players that we look forward to welcoming tomorrow at Woodside. We hope this is the start of a long, successful & most importantly FUN relationship with Rugby.
We look forward to posting more updates in the coming days as we celebrate a great week for all!
