Having been defeated by the Dragons in Orkney just two weeks ago, it was time for Quines to show them what they can do on their home turf.

The ‘Shire Quines were focused and determined from the start, securing the first try of the day after just 7 minutes. Chloe “Rollie” McGregor, in her new position at full back, put her background in athletics to good use looping all the way round the Orcadian defensive line to the wide open space down the right wing to cross the whitewash. Unfortunately, Naomi “Slam Duncan – who had incidentally convinced Chloe to join the Big Cat Family last year – missed the conversion.

After a penalty to each team, Quines were then awarded a further penalty for a held up maul with Shauna Moar-Strength securing the ball. Kirsty “Jynx” Coghill, with all of the hand offs, went crashing through the Dragon defence setting up Naomi “Slam” Duncan to score the second try of the match. This time “Slam” kicked a successful conversion.

Just two minutes later after brilliant team structure, Susanna Pennala cut a beautiful line to score her first try of the day. Unfortunately, Naomi missed her third conversion attempt.

Thirty minutes in, with quick thinking, Orkney took a 22 drop out and with Quines not reacting fast enough, secured their first try of the day by a very surprised no.5. Conversion missed.

Later, Mhairi “Varee” MacPhail the gliding gazelle weaved her way through the defence and set up “Jynx” for another try for the Big Cat Family. Conversion missed.

The next try came from scrum with no.8 Charlotte Watters beasting through many defenders to set up Naomi’s second try of the day. “Jynx”, relieving Naomi, stepped up to kick the conversion successfully.

HT: 29 - 5

Four minutes into the second half saw a great run from Aoife “Which Twin Is It” Murray, scoring her first try for Quines followed by another successful conversion from “Jynx”.

Orkney’s speedy wingers had a few good runs but, just could not get passed Chloe ‘Thank God I’m Not Full-Back..’ McGregor who has, to her own surprise, slotted perfectly into her new position.

Eventually, Orkney gained their second try of the day. Conversion missed. However, Quines quickly replied with another, completing Vice-Captain Naomi’s hattrick. Unfortunately “Jynx” spectacularly kissed the woodwork during her conversion attempt.

Orkney struggled to get through Quines’ strong defence however after some hard work broke through and scored their third and final try of the game. Conversion missed.

Not happy with just the one try, Inside-Centre Susanna took off again and scored a second just before the final whistle. Conversion missed.

FT : 44 - 15

Match Report by Shauna Moar.

Forward of The Match – Jen Peace
One of two resident Orcadians, Jen showed brilliant strength and power with her impressive hits throughout the match.

Back of The Match - Heidi Park
Our third returning retiree of the seasion had a brilliant run out as Scrum-Half, using her experience to allow the forwards and backs to gel seamlessly. She also secured many turnovers throughout the game.

Some honourable mentions go to Lisa "Thug Life" McGregor for her marked improvment in defense, and to Mhairi Macphail and Charlotte Watters who continue to be formidable in both defense and attack. And also to the 'Shire Quines' co-founder, Fiona "Chelts", and the current President, Colin Bell's Daughter Olivia Bell, who came off the bench tp play her very first adult game of rugby!

Opposition MOTM – Kirsty “Jynx” Coghill
“Jynx” played a stormer today, as she always does, creating a super experienced 9 – 10 partnership with Heidi and was an integral part in almost all areas.

Referee : Jamieson Shearer

Touch Judge : Fiona "Chelts" Murphy Tejeda
