A win at home puts Quines 2nd in North East League!

MATCH REPORT: Aberdeenshire Quines RFC vs Peterhead (07/09/2019) @ Woodside Sports Complex

FT SCORE: 43-10 to Aberdeenshire ? Referee: Andy Laing

Today saw Aberdeenshire Quines RFC welcome Peterhead Ladies to Woodside. Despite both teams carrying injuries and absences, the resulting game was a brilliant one!

It was clear that Peterhead weren't going to make it easy, however Aberdeenshire were buzzing and keen to put right some of the mistakes made last weekend. The team were given an early boost by Aberdeenshire's No. 10 Syla Clarke scoring in the first 6 minutes, successfully converted by ex-retired No. 15 Michelle Aitkin. The first half saw 3 more consecutive tries from the Quines: No. 15 Michelle Aitkin, No. 9 Justine Hanlon and No. 8 Charlotte Watters. Peterhead scored the final try of the half bringing the score to 26-5.

The second half continued with some fantastic team play from the ladies; with a step up in defense, some solid ball carries from the forwards and a great use of pace in the backs. Peterhead's scrums were a force to be reckoned with and the girls were definitely feeling the pain the next day! Peterhead's mix of speedy backs and solid forwards led to their 2nd try at 59 minutes.

It wasn't enough to put the Quines off though with further tries coming from No. 15 Michelle Aitkin, No. 3 Gemma Adam and No. 4 Kim Jamieson throughout the second half.

Forward MOTM: No. 8 Charlotte Watters for her ground breaking runs and fab support play.
Backs MOTM: No. 15 Michelle Aitkin for her fantastic control of the game, kicking and pace!
Peterhead awarded No. 9 Justine Hanlon their MOTM.

With thanks to the coaching team for all their hard work and commitment: Head coach Graeham Buchan supported by coaches Kirsty Coghill, John Henderson and Jeff Kelman!
